Forthcoming Performances

20 September 2008: Musicians of All Saints will perform ......un dolce lume....... at the All Saints' Centre, Lewes, East Sussex

During 2007/ 2008 Jonathan Warburton will give performances of Invention (Passages VIII) for bass trombone in South Africa (Cape Town), Poland (Krakow), the Ukraine, the United States (including New York, the Julliard School of Music) and Canada.

2005

Secondary Lines was premiered on 8 February by Steve Dummer, clarinet, and Yoko Ono, piano, at a Chapel Royal, Brighton, Lunchtime Concert.

.....un dolce lume..... for 16 solo strings received its first performance on 12 February by the Musicians of All Saints, conducted by Andrew Sherwood, in Lewes.

My regards to Mr Gibbons for violin, viola & double bass was included in a series of concerts given by Archaea (Stuart Deeks, violin, Ellie Blackshaw, viola, Stephen Phillips, double bass) with performances in Brighton (1 April), Lewes (4 April) and Wadhurst (22 April).

Brake Drum Assembly gave the first performance of Rhythm of Black Lines for 8 brake drums + tam-tam on 12 May at the Sussex Arts Club, Brighton. They gave a further performance at the Bartok Bar, Camden, London, on 29 June.

...dreams, shadows, and smoke for flute, viola & guitar was premiered in Brighton on 15 May by Rachel Smith, flute, Ellie Blackshaw, viola, and Paul Gregory, guitar.

Canzone for solo double bass was given its first performance by its dedicatee, Stephen Phillips on 1 July, in Brighton. He gave further performances in Lewes (4 July) and Wadhurst (8 July).

Passages IX for guitar duo was premiered on 28 October in Brighton by David Jenner & Jon Rattenbury.

Invention (Passages VIII) for bass trombone received its first performance at the Sydney Conservatorium, NSW, Australia, on 31 October by its dedicatee, Jonathan Warburton.

Andrew Melvin, piano, gave the first performance of Haiku at The Steyning Centre on 20 November.

 

2006

Jonathan Warburton gave another performance of Invention (Passages VIII) for bass trombone at New Mexico State University on 10 February.

On 8 March Corale Interrotto was given its first performance by the piano duo, Glen Capra and Kevin Allen in Brighton.

On 13 March Hauptweg und Nebenwege, performed by the Luxembourg Sinfonietta, conducted by Marcel Wengler, was broadcast by Centralzender (Netherlands). 

Nexus received its first performance on 21 March, given by students from Blatchington Mill School and Longhill School, at Blatchington Mill School, Hove.

On 25 March Rhythm of Black Lines was performed by Brake Drum Assembly at St Leonard’s Church, Shoreditch.

Brake Drum Assembly gave another performance of Rhythm of Black Lines on 2 May at the Sussex Arts Club, Brighton.

Nexus was included in the Blatchington Mill School & Sixth Form College Spring Concert on 10 May when it was again performed by students from the school and from Longhill School.

On 18 May Colloquy was performed in Brighton,at the Friends’ Meeting House, by members of Talkestra (Steve Dummer, clarinet, James Widden, violin, Alison Holford, cello, and Helen Reid, piano) .

Concatenation, slightly revised from its original (2000) version, was performed by members of Talkestra (Steve Dummer, clarinet, Evgeny Chebykin, horn, James Widden, violin, and Alison Holford, cello) on 13 June in Shoreham-by-Sea (Adur Festival).

Archaea gave two further performances of My regards to Mr Gibbons - on 24 June in Brighton, St Michael & All Angels, and on 26 June in Lewes, Pelham House

Objects in Space was included as the final work in a concert given in Brighton's Jubilee Library on 30 September by CoMA Sussex and New Music Brighton,  with other guest performers, including members of The Hola and CoMA South (Southampton). The event was part of Brighton Live 2006.

Rhythm of Black Lines was performed in Huddersfield by Brake Drum Assembly on 24 November, at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Hub (Lawrence Batley Theatre), and on 26 November in St Thomas' Church.

CoMA Sussex, directed by Steve Dummer, gave the 1st performance of Elaborations on 3 December at The Friends' Meeting House, Brighton.

Towards Equilibrium received it first performance on 7 December in the Meeting House, University of Sussex, by the University of Sussex 21st Century Ensemble conducted by Ben Oliver.

2007

22 May: Objects in Space and Canzona (for Double Bass) were performed by members of Talkestra in Brighton at Brighton Unitarian Church.

27 May: A Klee Diptych was given its first complete performance at The Friends' Meeting House, Brighton, by Steve Dummer, clarinet, and Yoko Ono, piano.

18 June: Quartet Movement ( first performance) + Rhythm of Black Lines were performed by Brake Drum Assembly in St Nicholas' Church, Brighton in a concert given during the first Soundwaves Festival.

22 June: Towards Equilibrium was performed in a slightly revised version at The Old Market, Hove, by the University of Sussex 21st Century Ensemble as part of Soundwaves Festival 2007.

27 June: Objects in Space was performed at Worthing High School by students from Worthing High School and Broadwater C of E School.

22 July: Quartet Movement + Rhythm of Black Lines were performed by Brake Drum Assembly at Doncaster College [COMA Festival Summer School].

28 July: dreams, shadows, and smoke was given its first performance in its original form for flute, viola and harp by the Trio Taffanel (Rachel Smith, flute, Virginia Slater, viola, and  Jean Kelly, harp, in the Westgate Chapel, Lewes.

2008

10 May: Jamie Crofts performed Haiku for piano at the Friends Meeting House, Brighton (Brighton Festival Fringe)

12 May: Talkestra performed Colloquy and Concatenation at the Friends Meeting House, Brighton (Brighton Festival Fringe)
